One Response to Caring Is Not Always Easy

  1. Yes!
I saw an elderly couple arguing with each other one day in a doctor’s waiting room (must have been in their 90s).
He said, “Stop yelling at me! You are always yelling at me!”
She replied loudly, “That’s exactly why we are here. You can’t hear.”
He yelled back, “I told you I don’t want hearing aids!”
“Too bad! You are going to get them!” She said as she pulled her coat off of a nearby chair, so she could get up and walk away from him.
But she had trouble getting up….and then (making things even more difficult) the arm of her coat got stuck on the arm of the chair.
    She was stuck.
Seeing that she was having a problem, he (very slowly) leaned over and tried to help her. For the next 5 or 10 minutes, they struggled to free her coat so she could walk away from him. But, by the time she finally was untangled from the chair, they were both so exhausted….they sat back down….together, holding hands.
I think they both forgot what they were arguing about.
    Very, very cute.
I later told my husband—”IF you want to leave me, you had better leave me now, before it gets too hard! :)
