Hello to all,
Siddhartha Guatama was a social activist in the culture and context of his time. His messages and teachings were about personal development and social development. For those who don’t see any connection between Buddhist practice, philosophy and the actions of governments need only look to the past at King Asoka, and to the present activities of the Dalai Lama and Thich Naht Hanh.
Buddhism is about connections and interconnections and so doesn’t deny the role that politics does play and can play in the alleviation of suffering and promotion of human flourishing.
I bow with respect,
Ven. Wayne (Ren Cheng)
